We call our world “modern” and “advanced,” but in truth, we are moving backwards. Technology and economy don’t define progress—our emotional intelligence and our connection to divinity do. By that measure, humanity is failing.
For thousands of years, philosophers and religions have tried to define morality and the meaning of life. Yet none of them have given us complete answers. Instead, religions shamed people into believing they were inherently bad, and philosophers left us with more questions than solutions.
Humans have always been searchers—longing for connection to divinity—but we’ve been taught to look outside ourselves. To wait for a teacher, a saviour, a partner, or even a god to come and rescue us. I lived that way too: waiting, hoping, praying for something or someone to finally give me what I couldn’t give myself.
The truth is, nothing outside of us will ever save us. The only way forward—the only real advancement—is for each person to take responsibility for their own life. That means owning your thoughts, emotions, choices, and actions. It means becoming the leader you wish existed, the saviour you hope will arrive, the parent your inner child still aches for.
Responsibility is freedom. It’s how you get to know yourself, and how you create a different experience on this planet. Without it, we keep treading water—heads barely above the surface—while expecting some external force to pull us out. But that rescue never comes.
Change won’t come from fighting “the system” or waiting for better leaders. Change will come when enough individuals decide to embody their divinity and humanity. If each of us lived from that place, leaders would be unnecessary.
Yes, the world feels heavy, dark, even hopeless at times. But you, as one individual, have the power to move humanity forward. That might feel daunting—but it’s also liberating.
Because the truth is simple: you must be your own saviour.
